FBI Issues Alert Over Attacks on Tesla Vehicles
The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a bulletin on Friday warning the public about the threats coming from far-Left extremists aimed at Tesla.
The bulletin comes after the attacks on Tesla stores and vehicles were triggered by outrage from the far-Left over the role that Elon Musk has had in helping the Trump administration gut waste, fraud, and abuse out of the federal government.
The FBI said that the attacks on Tesla vehicles, dealerships, storage lots, and charging stations have occurred in at least nine states since January.
“These incidents have involved arson, gunfire, and vandalism, including graffiti expressing grievances against those the perpetrators perceive to be racists, fascists, or political opponents,” the bulletin said. “These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night.”
The Bureau warned that the extremists need “little planning to use rudimentary tactics, such as improvised incendiary devices and firearms, and may perceive these attacks as victimless property crimes.”
Officials warned that the public needs to be extra vigilant around Tesla dealerships or Tesla-related entities until the threat subsides.
Threat activity highlighted by the FBI included:
- Violent threats made online referencing specific Tesla properties
- Inquiring or examining security measures at Tesla dealerships
- Photography of security-related equipment or personnel at Tesla dealerships
- Unusual surveillance or interest in Tesla-related entities
- Attempts to gain access to restricted areas or bypass security measures at Tesla-related properties
The Bureau encouraged the public to report anything suspicious immediately to local law enforcement or contact the FBI.
“This level of violence is insane and deeply wrong,” Musk said this week in response to an attack on a Tesla property. “Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks.”
“Tesla has ramped up security and activated Sentry Mode on all vehicles at stores,” Musk said in a separate post. “Tesla Sentry Mode captures video of anyone attempting to harm it.”
President Donald Trump on Friday spoke about the attacks on Tesla vehicles, calling the perpetrators “terrorists.”
“These people are going to be caught and they’re going to be prosecuted,” Trump said. “And from what they tell me, I see this just by watching your programs and reading the news, but from what they tell me, they could get 20 years in jail, and they’ll get it. I’ll tell you, there’s going to be no leniency, and there’ll be no pardons.”
“I view these people as terrorists, just like others,” he continued. “These are, when I looked at those showrooms burning and those cars — not one or two, like seven, eight, ten, burning, exploding all over the place — these are terrorists.”
