Kid Rock Tries to Broker Truce Between Bill Maher and Trump

Kid Rock announced he’s taking Bill Maher to the White House to “break bread” with President Donald Trump as part of an effort to “unite” the country.

Vocal Trump supporter Rock revealed his plans while speaking with The Blaze’s Glenn Beck this week.

The musician said he proposed a dinner at the end of the month between himself, Real Time host Maher, and the president when he recently appeared on Maher’s Club Random podcast.

“I’m actually going to try and unite this country and I’m starting at the end of the month I’m taking Bill Maher to the White House for dinner. This guy who has done nothing but talk smack about the president since day one,” Rock said.

Maher is no fan of the president, but he’s also thrown plenty of criticism at Democrats and their handling of Trump’s second term recently.

Rock called Maher “more reasonable than a lot of people on the right would think” and said a dinner between the president and one of his more vocal critics could inspire people to reach out to friends and family they stopped speaking to over politics.

Rock said:

“I was doing his podcast, I said, if I could hook you guys up, that, that, and the other — and trust me, there’s a lot more people deserving at that table, you know, for dinner so it’s a big deal to me to bring him there and to even have the president be like, yeah, do it, let’s do it. I go, man, what would it say to this country? Let’s start at the top with two very public figures, him, television comedian, you, president of the free world, and we can just break bread, have some laughs, take a picture and be like, hey, you know, we don’t agree on everything, but we got along. Does that start to send a message to people or do they just think I’m an idiot?”
