WATCH: NYC Man Caught Calmly Eating Raw Rat on Busy Sidewalk

A video of a man eating a dead rat while sitting on a New York City sidewalk in broad daylight went viral on social media on Saturday.

In the clip, a man is sitting on a Bronx sidewalk when he picks up the rodent and begins to eat from its corpse with no apparent care in the world.

According to The New York Post, the man ate his meal near 149th Street and Third Avenue while onlookers stood in disbelief on March 1. The video began to spread across social media over the weekend.

A woman near the scene said, “I gotta get out the Bronx,” while a man said, “No, no no. What the f*ck? He is wilding.”

The Instagram account @newyorkshit first posted the one-minute 15-second clip last week and sparked reactions expressing everything from pity to revulsion.

One commenter on the original clip said, “New pandemic in 3…..2…..1…..”

Another wrote, “Terrible, someone help that man.”

One more person commented, “He better cook it well…”

The popular X account I Meme Therefore I Am got ahold of the video Saturday afternoon and exposed it to an entirely different audience.

The clip racked up thousands of views in an hour and spread like wildfire.
